Davis Park Community Garden Build Day

On May 30, 2009, the Davis Park Community Garden was launched with first member workday. 21 garden beds were built, (16) 4’ x 10’, (2) 10 x 10 and (3) 4’ x 4’. All but one small bed have caretakers who have agreed to abide by the rules of the garden, signed a contract and paid their $25 membership fee. Some have even started planting.
The day was marked with much enthusiasm with a special thanks to Robert Rude for donating his tools and talents in getting the last of the beds completed. Thirty volunteers of all ages showed up to assist in the creation, placement and soil preparation of the beds. There is still space for additional beds so a list is being created and when the final design is complete, we will finish the last of the space.
A BIG THANK-YOU TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS.
Here are a few photos from the day.
