Another Great Turnout!

We had another very successful farmers market at Davis Park today with over 250 people attending. We have a few more vendors now, as well as students from LaSalle Academy’s Environmental Society selling flowers and herbs that they grew in their garden at the school. Our vendors are now selling fruit, vegetables, flowers, plants, pumpkins, honey/honey products, hand made vegetable soaps and lotions, jams, jellies, sauces and salsa, and prepared foods.
The Providence Community Library, a community-based organization, joined us today to promote the nine neighborhood libraries in Providence.
We had many people sign up to join Elmhurst Clean & Green and expressed an interest in volunteering, which is fantastic!
We asked folks to tell us what they would like to see in Davis Park and received great feedback, some of which has been discussed, but hearing it from the community really lets us know we are on the right track. Ideas ranged from more trees to music to a fenced-in dog run to skateboarding, all of which are on our list of possibilities.
Next Sunday, 9/27, we will have our first music concert during farmer market at Davis Park. Our new member, Sally Jane, who just moved here from Oregon, is a bluegrass musician and will perform. We are very excited about this wonderful new addition to our markets.
Below is a slideshow of pictures from the farmers markets.
